One of the most asked questions is, “What computer should I get?” I’m here to offer my free advice to everyone, but who am I?

I am a one-man operation with over 20 years of experience in IT, building, repairing, and maintaining PCs and networks. I specialize in home and business services and offer web services and support. I am CompTIA A+ and Network+ Certified and have held many certificates from major manufacturers, like Dell, HP/Compaq, Toshiba, and others. I support all PC brands and Apple Computers. I manage computer systems and networks for companies all over KC and customers nationwide.

I volunteer as a public safety diver for my community with Lee’s Summit Underwater Rescue and Recovery. I love helping people with their problems. If you are looking for a computer, you can message me, and I can send you what I feel will work for your specific needs. I don’t charge for this service. I do make a small amount from Amazon with referrals. I have my phone number at the top of the page if you have questions and want to talk. I’m originally from Northern California and live in the Kansas City area.

So, how does the site work?

We have five sections: Desktops, Laptops, Gaming, MACs, and business. Each has budget sections. I have checked each computer’s specifications and reviews. These are the types of computers I refer to my customers. The Blog Section is a record of computers I have selected for their needs, with a short description of the user’s needs.

You can click the ASK button and send me a message requesting me to find a list of computers that fit your needs, and if you are not sure what you need and have a question, give me a call or send me an email at Nate@NatesIT.com

So, what do I recommend on a computer? I’ll break it down.

CPU or Processor

I look for any CPU in the Intel i or AMD Ryzen series (i3, i5, i7, i9, Ryzen3, Ryzen5, Ryzen7, Ryzen9). I like 8th gen or better for Intel, for example, i5-9500k (the 9500 is 9th generation) for Ryzen, 3000 or better, for instance, Ryzen 7 3700x (the 3700 is 3rd generation)

RAM/Memory

DDR4 or better, 8Gbs or more, any computer with DDR3 don’t buy it. RAM is best explained by saying the more programs like Chome you have open, the more RAM you need.

Storage/HDD/SSD

I only recommend using SSDs or Solid-State Drives, which are much faster than Hard Disk Drives. Most old computers get slow due to old hard drives slowing down and going bad, so always look for SSDs or Solid-State Drives, NOT HDDs or Hard Drives.

Side Note: I like renewed or refurbished computers. In many cases, they have been cleaned and new drives installed. I see them as already burned in and tested, but on that note, I do recommend Amazon warranty plans. Things happen, and having a fallback is nice.
